In memory of the recently deceased artist Franz Alkier, we warmly invite you to a small exhibition presenting selected works from his artistic practice.
Without academic training, yet driven by profound inner urgency, Franz Alkier created a multifaceted oeuvre encompassing painting, drawing, ceramics, object art, photography, and text.
Born in Styria and employed for many years as an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces, Franz Alkier’s life took a decisive turn during an overseas mission for the United Nations. A psychological crisis marked the end of his military career and the beginning of a new reality — art as expression, survival, and transformation.
The exhibition presents works from all phases of his artistic production, offering insight into the world of a person who never ceased to enter into relationship — with art, with others, and with himself.
